The principal aim of this paper is to make evident the stilistic values of Plutarch’s text in a concret passage of the scientific part of the dialogue De facie in orbe Lunae. In this case I will analyse from this stilistic point of view the discussion between Lamprias and Pharnaces concerning the earth nature of the moon. The abundance of words referring to the elements and their physical nature, the literary procedures to underline them, the use of diferent verbs according to Lamprias’ philosophical arguments, and the suitability of the rhetorical clausules for the sense of phrases, denote a particular interest of Plutarch in this passage, whose philosophical sense also can be better understand by means of such analyse.
